City and State Cuts Threaten BTO Programs

Boston’s arts and community organizations are entering what many are calling a “new era of scarcity.” As reported by WBUR, proposed city and state funding cuts are putting small organizations at risk across Boston — and BTO is among those feeling the impact.
This year alone, BTO is facing more than $85,000 in funding cuts. These cuts are not abstract numbers on a spreadsheet. They directly affect the programs, creative spaces, youth opportunities, and community support systems that so many people rely on every day. At a time when our communities need connection, healing, cultural expression, and safe spaces the most, public investment in organizations like BTO is shrinking.
For years, BTO has worked to create opportunities for artists, young people, families, and community members across Boston. We know firsthand that arts and culture are not “extras” they are essential to building belonging, opportunity, and community wellbeing.
Now we need your help.
Your donation today will help us continue our programming, sustain community initiatives, support local artists and youth, and protect the work that makes BTO a home for so many.
If you believe in equitable access to arts, culture, and community spaces in Boston, please stand with us during this critical moment. Donate today and help keep BTO’s work alive.
